The Boy Has a Sense of Humor

Oliver has a new game... when I put him on the spare bed to get him dressed he promptly turns over and crawls *as fast as he can* to the top of the bed and squeals with delight if he makes it to the top - at which time he turns around to see if I've caught him in the act. When I grab his ankles and pull him back to the foot of the bed, he laughs and the game starts over. The funniest thing about this game, I think, is the fact that he actually thinks he's getting away with something every time he 'runs' away.

Oliver's other favorites these days includes making a mad dash to Elle's water dish and splashing like mad and crawling into the bathroom before he gets caught. I'm thinking it's time to fish out the baby gates from storage (hello?!?) and I'm also a little fearful that we're getting a glimpse into future orneriness. Oh boy!!

and the Zebra says to the Butterfly...

Actually, the zebra said a lot of funny things to the butterfly, but you probably had to be there to fully appreciate what went down. Hello puppet show...

Thanksgiving Photos

Grandpa Anderson came over early and played with Kennedy and Oliver while we all prepared our various contributions to the thanksgiving meal.

Our niece Amber and her husband Cole drove in from the Coos Bay area to join us for Thanksgiving. Kennedy had a lot of fun with those two.

She also enjoyed playing with her Keasler cousins, Katrina and Kirkland.

Kennedy and Kirkland played a lot of games. Kennedy followed him everywhere he went.

Happy Thanksgiving

Kennedy's class composition is currently 10 boys to 3 girls. We have noticed some changes in her play style since starting this class. Some examples: she made this "ship with shooters" on the dishwasher and she is well versed in transformers.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Oliver is Getting His Sleep On, Mostly

Since our last sleeping update Oliver has improved significantly. He still wakes up at night but is better at getting back to sleep. Way to go Oliver!

He's also eating more during the day since he is not drinking as much at night. Good shift.

Birthday Party Fun

Kennedy was invited to another birthday party at Pump It Up Jr. She is definitely getting more comfortable with the place and has a great time running from one structure to another.

Oliver was able to join in the fun this time too.

Resident Artist

We participated in our first teacher / parent conference for Kennedy this past week. Her evaluation was excellent overall but the teacher stressed that Kennedy has special "abilities for art." Here are two recent photos of Kennedy's "fairy dust" compositions, chalk on black board, #1 and #2. :-) Good thing we captured these ephemeral chalk pleasures on camera.

Kennedy draws the pictures in isolation and then calls us in to look at them with her to guess what she has drawn. We aren't always the best at guessing so she gives us clues, like, "It's what comes out of fairies but it's not flowers."

Uncle C.K.

Susan was out of town for work earlier this week so Uncle C.K. spent a few evenings with us and was he a huge help! Not only did he play with the kids and help get them ready for bed, but he also cleaned, took out the garbage and lots of other small things. How cool is he?

Here's a pic of him with Oliver and Cassius from Sunday's dinner at Pho Van.

Guess Who Has Decided She Likes Flip Flops?

About a month ago Kennedy announced that she is "ready to wear her flip flops now." We don't know what changed her mind, but she finally found them and put them on. Mimi sent these to her a few years back.

Now, if we could just convince her that pants are okay too...

Hello, is Anyone Awake? It's me, Oliver.

mama mama mama mama... the sweetest sounds ever, except, maybe, at 11:30 p.m., 2:00 a.m.; 3:30 a.m.; 5:00 a.m.... Oliver needs to get his sleep on.

Photo Stream

We went out for a birthday celebration dinner at Pho Van Sunday night. Awesome food and company. We were celebrating the November birthdays of Heidi, Sheryl and Shelly. The kids were hillarious and fabulous. Here's our own photo booth version photo stream of Cassius, Kennedy and Oliver.

Prop 8 Protest Rally, Portland

Oliver attended his first ever protest rally (Prop 8) with Mommy Sheryl in Portland. This rally was part of the nationwide protest against Prop 8. More info at Jointheimpact.com

We couldn't hear many of the speakers from our position near the back of the crowd, but we could hear our current Mayor Tom Potter speaking out against Prop 8 and being hopeful about the future of gay marriage.

This is a photo of Sheryl and April. The sign reads All Families Equal with a No H8 added.

Susan and Kennedy were at Kennedy's ballet / dance class. She loves that class so much.

We sent Aunt Shelly on her way this morning dropping her off at the airport. :-(

Aunt Shelly in the House

Aunt Shelly came in for the weekend. You know what that means: the kids get extra attention and they love it!

Kennedy especially likes the reading. She literally piles the books up for Aunt Shelly to read.

Guess the Kid

Is this Oliver or Kennedy?

It was hard for us to make a quick decision. We had to study it for a bit before answering.

What do you think? Which kid is it?

Aunt Shelly is coming to visit so we may be slow to post in the upcoming days.

Random Photos

We really haven't taken many pics this week so here are some random photos from earlier in the month. Here's one of Uncle C.K. and Kennedy.

We've recently started putting Oliver in the bath with Kennedy. He is such a hoot! He crawls back and forth from one end to another and splashes water all over the place.

Yesterday afternoon we picked up Oliver from his Grandparents Anderson's home. He spent his first night away from our house and with them. By all accounts he had a very good time and was well behaved.

Black Bear Sleeper Set

In September of 2007 we went to Vancouver BC to celebrate our anniversary. Kennedy stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Anderson. While we were there we picked up a black bear sleeper set for the new baby. It's fun to see Oliver wearing the pajamas.

How cute is this? A Little Bear Bum...

The family gathered at a Thanksgiving celebration at Granny Kay's on Sunday. Here's a photo of Granny Kay with Oliver.

Here is a photo of Grandpa Anderson with Oliver and Toby (the black dog).

Scream-oh and Kennedy Photos

Oliver has found his screaming voice which is exciting to no one except him! We're hoping to divert him away from this new found skill. Wow can the boy scream!

Kennedy picked up the camera again today and took some photos on the road to Granny Kay's house for an early family Thanksgiving. Here's a digital self portrait.

And here's a picture of her mary jane shoes.

Kennedy the Helper

Kennedy quietly (and not so quitely) helps out with Oliver. Yesterday she brought him three little people to play with while sitting in his booster seat. Today she brought him a stuffed animal to squeeze instead of squeezing our sleeping cat Elle. And when we were out of the room we came back in to find that Kennedy had put a hat on Oliver's head because "he seemed cold." What a good big sister!

Here's Kennedy in shorts and a shirt that the McGourin family sent.

Biter Biscuits

Oliver likes things he can eat on his own. Since he doesn't have teeth yet he's limited to things he can gum down like messy sticky gooey yummy biter biscuits.

We smashed up some pinto beans for him yesterday. They weren't his favorite but he gave them a good try. The consistency was a little too thick so we'll add some liquid next time we try them.

Sippy Cups and Teething

Oliver has a lot of fun with this sippy cup. Besides drinking from it he spills water out on his tray and splashes it around.

He's been teething for what feels like years but is really only 3 or 4 months. His front lower gums have hills and bumps. Come on teeth!

President Elect Obama

We watched the election results come in last night at home with our friend Katie and we are thrilled with the results on the Presidential race. There were entire families outside in our neighborhood hooting and hollering and chanting and shooting fireworks. People driving on the streets were honking their horns in celebration. It was quite thrilling and rewarding. We kept in touch with Stacey via text messaging and wished that Oliver and Kennedy were old enough to fully appreciate how historic this election is with President Elect Barack Obama.

Stranger Danger and Our Little Ham

Oliver is starting to show some stranger danger behavior. He is more comfortable with people if he can look at them from the arms of one of his mommies. At home he is just a card. He hams it up, especially with Kennedy and Uncle C.K. You can see a little bit of that side of his personality in this photo.

More Halloween

Kennedy's Halloween party at school was a lot of fun. Susan helped move the kids from room to room for various activities (face painting, trick or treating, mask making...).

In the evening we connected with neighbor Zoe (rock star) and Emmit (Ninja). Kennedy dressed up as Cinderella.

Uncle C.K. helped pass out candy to trick or treaters at home.

Musical Instruments

Kennedy often runs around the house finding musical instruments. "You can make instruments out of anything" she says while rubbing a toy stick back and forth on a string of beads. Oliver likes to touch the strings of the guitar and he's pretty good at pounding on it too.
