Pizza Pizza

Kennedy helped make her first pizza Sunday night. We got to use the pizza stone that Aunt Gayle and Uncle David got us a few years back.

Kennedy ate one of the pieces of pepperoni and said "This is yummy". Here she is spreading the sauce while Susan formed the edges. If we tried to help her she would say "Let me do it".

Pride Parade

Sunday we loaded up the wagon with gear, leaving a space just right for Kennedy, and went searching for a good spot to watch Portland's Pride Parade.

It was a fun parade. Here are some rainbow colored bikers.

Darcelle, seen here, is a Portland icon.

After the parade, we asked Kennedy what her favorite part was and she said "the white faced monster." They did wave at each other. Here he is:

Always good to see Planned Parenthood, and it's doubley nice to see men leading the charge.

We took turns holding Kennedy on our shoulders throughout the parade. She liked being high enough to see everything.

This sign gave us a laugh.

Birthday Fun

Susan's favorite cake is a chip cake with cherry icing. We only had 12 candles for the cake and with Kennedy's help they all got blown out the first try.

Here's a great photo of birthday mom and daughter.

Smile

C. K. got Kennedy to smile this lovely smile for the camera. She sure had fun with him at the birthday party. She played so hard that when I took her up for bed she was asleep in no time at all.

Birthday Dinner

It was good to have Susan home on her birthday this year. We had friends over for a home style meal of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn, salad and birthday cake.

We're still enjoying these flowers sent to Susan from Mimi and Papa.

Box Play

Susan's birthday was this week. Kennedy helped her open a birthday package from mom and dad. Of course, the funnest part of opening any gift is playing with the box!

Proper Eats

Today we went to Proper Eats in North Portland for dinner. They are a vegetarian/vegan place and their food is excellent. Today was flower power day for spirit week at Kennedy's school. This is as close as we could get in our rush out of the house this morning. It has flowers at least!

Our friend Pamela played guitar there tonight. Here's Kennedy watching her play.

Rock Star Day

Thursday was Rock Star day at Kennedy's day care . You might think this is her pretending to belt out a song, but if you look closely you can see this is a distressed look. What she was really saying was stop taking my picture and give me my book back!

Cool June Weather

It barely made 60 degrees today so our park outing was on the cool side.

Here are Susan and Kennedy playing. Susan plays the bridge troll and Kennedy tries to sneak past her.

Hat Day

This week is "spirit week" at Kennedy's day care. Monday was pajama day; Tuesday was red and white (Americana) day; Wednesday was hat day. Kennedy picked out this hat to wear.

The First Catch

Grandpa Anderson writes "The word of the day was "yucky". The worms were yucky. The fish were yucky. " Despite the fact that things were so yucky, Kennedy still managed to catch this trout. Once it was home, Kennedy refused to touch the fish and was particularly offended by it being on her dinner plate!

On a sad note, Kennedy's ear infection has returned. I suspect we have another round of ear tubes in our future...

Gone Fishin'

This morning my dad came by to pick up Kennedy for her very first fishing trip with Grandpa. Dad had this small fishing pole put together for Kennedy in no time. Kennedy was a big 'help' in this morning's preparations...

Tiring of the fishing pole, Kennedy soon discovered the joys of her new tackle box. She particularly liked the marshmallows and salmon roe. I had to laugh when she promptly stored both bottles in the kitchen cabinets where she keeps her cookie sprinkles!

Just before leaving, Kennedy and her Grandpa gave the fishing pole a test - seeing if they could catch a cat. (Don't worry - no hooks were loaded yet - but Elle did enjoy chasing the weight at the end of the line.)

Climber

Kennedy is such a climber. It's fun to watch but is a little nerve racking at the same time.

C.K.'s new movie, Cathedral Park

C.K. visited earlier this week and we all went to the park. He has a new movie out (producer), "Cathedral Park" and it's playing tonight (Friday) at the Hollywood theater in Portland. We're really proud of him!

Visits to Oregon City

We went to Oregon City last weekend, twice actually--once on Sunday for lunch with the Grandparents (Kennedy stayed with them for the night) and then again for a family gathering at Great Granny Kay's on Monday. Here's a picture of Kennedy with an ice cream beard.

We're so enjoying Kennedy's hair. Seems like just yesterday she was a little baldie. She lets us put pig tails in occassionally.

Tiger Face Paint

Kennedy's day care had a costume event today. They did some face painting too. Here's Kennedy at home pulling her animal train around. If you look close, you can see her face is painted like a tiger.
