These special treats were a halloween gift for Kennedy from our neighbors Thomas and Sarah. Here are two of them on the plate. Aren't they beautiful? They picked them up at a bakery downtown.

And here's the other one!

C.K. came by this evening for some trick or treat fun with us. He's been a regular at our house on Halloween. The first time he met Kennedy was Halloween 2004. She was only 11 days old.

Kennedy keeps raking in the birthday gifts. Megan spent Saturday morning with us and brought Kennedy some winter socks and pajamas.

She also brought some frog and duck shaped soaps. When she wasn't smelling them, Kennedy shuffled them around.

Sunday, October 29, 2006

Kennedy dressed up as a bumble bee today and we went to Spooktacular at the QCenter. Bzzzz, bzzzz...

She got to select the pumpkin she wanted to paint.

Saturday, October 28, 2006

We went to a halloween carnival in our 'hood Friday. Kennedy wouldn't have anything to do with her bee costume. At the carnival she was apprehensive at first preferring to watch the Go Fish booth rather than participate. She warmed right up to the ball toss, though.

Today we went to music class and there was a trick-or-treat song and Kennedy has been saying "Trick or Treat" all day long.

Friday, October 27, 2006

Today was Wear orange and black day at Kennedy's day care. She and the other toddlers in the twos room had fun showing each other their outfits this morning.

Kennedy got a birthday package in the mail from Aunt Gayle, Uncle David, Heather and Ryan. Independent as she is, she likes to open things by herself. Here she is opening the card.

Oh wow! She got a ballet outfit complete with tutu and shoes.

Boxes, laundry baskets... Kennedy likes to find comfortable places to read her books.

Wednesday, October 25, 2006

Another fun week is under way at Kennedy's school. Monday was pajama day and Tuesday was crazy hair day. We had fun with that since Kennedy actually has hair this year!

Tuesday, October 24, 2006

Last Saturday we had friends over for breakfast. Kennedy and Cascious liked to play side by side - especially at the keyboard.

Kennedy was happy to have someone to play with. She really enjoyed sharing her toys and was running all over in hyper over-drive.

Monday, October 23, 2006

Laural and Peter gave Kennedy a great playhouse. It has two children in bunkbeds with a dog, teddy bear and in the bathroom there's a shower, towel and toothbrush. Kennedy loves to give them a bath, dry them off and then brush their teeth. It's too cute.

Of course, Kennedy was super excited to see C.K. They played chase around the kitchen. Kennedy's squeels of delight were music to all our ears!

On Friday, Kennedy woke up and knew it was her special day. The night before she helped pick out this special outfit. I love it that Kennedy loves her combat-looking punk black boots. Reminds me of my angst-filled youth! She also got to wear her handmade necklace she made at school.

CK snapped this pic of Sheryl, Kennedy and me. We had a great birthday and Kennedy has been enjoying her birthday cake again and again all weekend. Alas, we served the last piece tonight - a fitting end to a long birthday weekend.

Kennedy got a number of cards, here she is reading Mimi's and Papa Clark's birthday card. She really loves Winnie the Pooh so this card was particularly interesting to her!

Two! Kennedy had an awesome birthday yesterday. Her teacher made this birthday crown for her at her day care and she wore it all day and into the evening. Here she is blowing out her birthday candles. The birthday cake was a gift from Mimi and it came from the New Seasons market. Good stuff.

C.K., Laural and Peter joined Susan and me to have dinner and celebrate Kennedy's birthday.

Tomorrow Kennedy will be 2! Woohoo! It's hard to believe our little baby is turning into such a big girl!

As Kennedy gets older, she'll be transitioning to the Two's classroom at her school. I was reading her transition report that is a summary of her personality, characteristics, etc. from her current teacher to her new teacher and had to laugh. Kennedy is very happy and loving and likes to play with others... (so far, so good) But sometimes she likes to tell her friends which toys to play with. She takes the said toys over and tries to 'make' her friend play with it. (so, in other words, our daughter is already exhibiting management potential, ha ha!)

Friends April and Carol passed down these cool John Lennon overalls to Kennedy.

She pointed out to everyone the elephant and dog on the overalls.

Susan and Kennedy picked up a balloon at the store on Friday and Kennedy carried that balloon around all weekend. She had great fun running and dragging the balloon behind her for Elle to chase.

C. K. came over for dinner on Sunday evening. Kennedy is really good at saying C.K. now though it sometimes comes out as T.K.

They did a bit of reading after dinner. Here they are reading about Kennedy's favorite subject--trains.

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

We picked up a few pumpkins, gourds and a mini hay bale at the Pumpkin Patch. Kennedy helped us arrange them on our front porch.

Monday, October 16, 2006

We made it out to the pumpkin patch on Sauvie's Island on Saturday morning. Here are our friends Adrienne and Jake with Susan and Kennedy outside the barn. Inside they got to see ducks, chickens, roosters, lambs, pigs, a llama...

Kennedy wore her special orange dragonfly barrette.

We all took a hay ride out to the pumpkin field. Kennedy did a nice job walking around the pumpkins and not tripping on their vines.

Jake and Kennedy climbed to the top of the hay bale stack and rested for a while. It was good fun hanging out at the pumpkin farm.

Sunday, October 15, 2006

Kennedy helped sweep the driveway yesterday while we worked in the yard and finished some external painting in anticipation of today's rain. Good thing too because the rain did come today.

Kennedy's a good helper in the yard. She likes raking and picking up pine cones. She also helps us take out the garbage every week and yesterday she helped us put together our pumpkin display.

Saturday, October 14, 2006

On the way home from a birthday party in Vancouver last weekend Kennedy entertained herself by putting stickers all over her face.

Wednesday night Pamela came and performed a practice concert for us. We are so fortunate to have such a talented musician in our circle of friends.

Thursday, October 12, 2006

Here's Kennedy looking festive in her orange and black pants and black boots.

Wednesday, October 11, 2006

Here's Kennedy combining her fondness for playing with boxes and reading books.

She's always enjoyed reading and can entertain herself for a long time with a book or two. She had a lot of fun reading the FAO Schwarz catalogue we got in the mail today. She would turn each page and say "Oh wow!" She particularly liked the train section.

Smart toddler that she is, she stacked her books beside the box within easy reach.

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Kennedy is sporting a new vest jacket Susan found at a local resale store. Love it! Kennedy is also starting to show strong preferences for these little red shoes as well - girl loves her shoes!

Monday, October 09, 2006

Megan and Kennedy caught up with eachother this past weekend. We all have been super busy and haven't had our weekly visits.

Kennedy and Megan pushed a tide race car (in Kennedy's hand) back and forth on the kitchen floor for a good while. This race car was a gift from Mimi and Papa. It's a Dale Earnhardt car. #32.

Sunday, October 08, 2006

Kennedy enjoys helping finish the cabinets in the new kitchen. She just likes fixing things in general. Here she is working on the new garbage disposal.

Here's a shot of our new stove area.

Funny stuff from the Anderson household these last few days…
- Kennedy loves to run laps around the new open space the remodel has provided; she runs and runs

- Music class has afforded Kennedy the opportunity to practice dancing with pointed fingers - a skill taught to her by big sister Stacey

- Our first potty training accident where duties were not complete on the potty prior to getting on a clean diaper

- And finally, Kennedy has taken to calling me ‘Susan’ – which, albeit is my name, it is not what I had in mind when we decided to let her differentiate labels between Sheryl and me on her own terms.

Kennedy wrapped up a busy weekend with a ride on her tricycle with one of her dolls. After a series of missed shots and silly grins, I captured this sweet shot.

During an afternoon walk this leaf caught my eye and I couldn’t resist… truly an amazing find!

Sunday, October 01, 2006

We were busy working in the kitchen today and Kennedy chipped right in. Here she is with Susan hanging cabinet doors.

And here she is helping paint a wall. We forgot to take an "after" picture. It was pretty funny though really she did a super job keeping the paint on the wall instead of on her. The hardest thing for her was figuring out how far to dip the paint brush into the can.
