It's also Trick or Vote day!

Jogging Crew

Kennedy was the victim of a nasty virus this week that caused her to run a high fever and throw up. She is recovering well though; we kept her home from school today mostly as a precaution. We went out for a jog this morning. Here are Kennedy and Oliver in the Burley (in jogger mode).

I've started a jogging program. I'm three weeks in and it seems to be working out okay. My goals are pretty simple. The first week I got to 10 minutes. In the second week I got to 15 minutes. In the third week (the current one) I'll bump that to 25. My short term target is 45 minutes. I really like going out with the kids. They both enjoy being outside and cruising around the neighborhood. We'll see how this program plays out for both them and me with the cold and shorter days quickly approaching.

Uncle C.K. Visit

Oliver's face lights up when his Uncle C.K. comes around. He came over last night to watch the kids while we went to a Whitebird dance performance.

Pumpkin Carving

We did some pumpkin carving and painting this past weekend. Kennedy decided to paint her pumpkin, but Sheryl decided to carve into one. Here's Susan scooping out the inside of the pumpkin.

Here is a photo of the pumpkins.

We get a lot of our series dvds from Netflix. A current favorite (of the adults in the family) is Battlestar Galactica. The cylon bat on the carved pumpkin is modeled after a cylon raider. A cat eye bike tail light in scan flashing mode brings it all together.

Drummer in the House

The drum is one of Oliver's favorite toys. We especially like the big smile he displays when he is drumming.

Trick or Treat in the 'Hood

Our neighborhood stores sponsored a trick or treat for the Clinton Street kiddos so we pulled out our costumes and hit the street Saturday afternoon. Here's Oliver the pumpkin in the stroller.

Zoe and Joe walked over with us. Here are Rock Star Zoe and Tinker Bell Kennedy scoring some candy at one of the local shops.

We ended up at K&F coffee house where Zoe and Kennedy decorated cookies.

Sheryl made her own pumpkin mask but alas took it off because, well, everyone thought it was creepy and made it look like she was about to go on a robbing spree.

Camera Weary and Camera Excited

After 4 years of many photos Kennedy seems to be growing weary of the camera and often will put her hand or some other object in front of her face.

We can usually coax her into a picture though.

Oliver on the other hand is just getting curious about and responding to the camera. What's that?

Oh, that's a camera. Smile!

In Search of the Cat

Oliver is so curious about Elle the cat. She's less curious but is at least gentle with him. Here he is crawling after her.

We got Elle when Kennedy was about one month old. These two are old buds. Here's Oliver after he pulled himself up on the chair to get in on the action too.

Sugar Cookies and Some Brother Fun

Kennedy made and decorated sugar cookies for her school mates to help celebrate her birthday. Here she is cutting the cookies for baking.

Susan helped create, bake and she coordinated decoration of the cookies with Princess Kennedy, I mean Snow White...

Here's Kennedy having a little party hat fun with Oliver. She's also wearing the pajamas she got from her friend Luci.

Trike it!

We got the tricycle out Sunday and went tooling around the neighborhood. It was a little chilly out but no rain and thus no slippery wet leaves.

Multnomah Falls

Oliver and Sheryl took a trip to Multnomah Falls last week for breakfast and a short hike with friends Becky and Shaun. Oliver was so curious about the Falls that it was hard to get a picture of him.

Princess Power

Move over, Disney - you have nothing on this crop of princesses from Kennedy's party over the weekend. The girls promptly raided Kennedy's stash of princess outfits at her party and embodied the likes of fairies, pricesses, and young royalty. The costuming carried over into the gift opening festivisites in which Kennedy truly did command center court.

Kennedy Turning 4

This weekend marks the beginning of our birthday celebrations for Kennedy's 4th birthday. We finally let her open the present from Mimi that arrived earlier this week. Kennedy was so excited to get a new tea set - this one is a Fiesta ware set.

Kennedy was anxious to give the tea set a try and we probably would have if we didn't already have a packed morning full of ballet class followed by Kennedy's big birthday party (more on that soon)!

Teething Biscuits

Oliver is so teething; even though his temperament remains good, teething is affecting his sleep. He had his first teething biscuits today and they were a big hit.

We got Healthy Times' Maple Buiscuits for Teethers (wheat, soy and dairy free).

Oliver climbs on everything but he really likes this foot stool. His balance has improved so much that he can catch himself with his hands if he falls. Go Oliver!

Climbing and Dogs

At Granny Kay's birthday celebration Oliver got to hang out with a lot of the family dogs. He was so curious about them. Here he is with Aunt Peggy and Lucky.

Oliver and Toby played on the floor together.

Oliver gave Toby quite a few hugs and kisses.

Climbing and Building

Kennedy's school had an in-service day today. We met our friend Laural for lunch at Papa G's. The brown rice and curry plate with greens is very tasty. We stayed in the house for most of the day. Oliver crawled around looking for things to climb.

Kennedy brought out the games and the blocks. Here she is building a house for her and Zoe and Luci.

Field Trip

Kennedy's class went on a field trip to the Lee Farm's pumpkin patch this week. Here she is with one of her classmates, Kabir, saying "Look it; we both have green boots."

There was a lot of shuffling kids around from one hay barn to another field to see all of the sights.

Here's Kennedy on the Monster board.

Fall Weather

Oliver doesn't sleep in the pack anymore, but he still likes sitting up high and being carried around. He was 7 months old yesterday. He's pulling himself up on furniture pretty regularly and can actually hold a sitting position.

It was nippy this morning and we had to bring out the winter headwear. There's no frost on the pumpkin yet, but that's imminent. Here's Kennedy snuggled up with 2 of Oliver's first dolls.

Kennedy's New Class

There are 9 boys and 3 girls including Kennedy in her new class at school!

She's been at her new school for over a month and she's adjusted well. She started a karate class. At first she just watched the class but now she is participating and even asks "Is today karate day?" when we pick her up. Her Sensei (karate teacher) is very patient yet firm.

Run Kennedy Run

Here's a photo of Kennedy participating in her school's Race for the Arts run yesterday. She called Grandma and Grandpa Anderson last week and told them she was going to do 10 laps. Of course she asked them to sponsor her too, which they willingly agreed to do. She managed to complete 5 laps. She told us that she fell down, though she wasn'thurt, and then informed us that she "didn't have on proper running shoes."

Self Digital Portrait and Park Fun

Kennedy broke out the camera again on Friday and took random photos in the house. Her self portraits always make us smile.

We took advantage of a no-rain break last week and went to the park. Kennedy met her friend Zoe on the street and coaxed her into joining us too.

Various Swingy things

The Johnny Jump Up is still a good inside toy for Oliver. He's really jumping good these days though socks on the wood floor make it a little slippery.

We went to the park a lot early last week since rain was hanging threateningly over us with the beginning of October. Oliver is doing some assisted sliding, but the swing is still his favorite activity at the park.

Here's his big smile...

Dresses from Mimi and Cool Uncle C.K.

This is another dress Mimi got for Kennedy. She saved it to wear for picture day last week.

Uncle C.K. came over last week to watch the kids while Susan and I went to see a dance performance. Here he is reading to the kids. They just adore him.

Shared Toys

A lot of people ask "Is he playing with her toys yet?" In reality, Kennedy still likes to play with the toys that are now Olivers but that she used to play with as a baby. However, Kennedy is very good at sharing and at giving Oliver a toy when he crying to cheer him up, as she did with the one in the photo below.

A day in the life...

Here's a photo of Sheryl and Oliver playing the drum. This is one of his fun activities that we do occassionally. Often times I'll stumble across Sheryl playing her djembe for Oliver and then pulling out this smaller version for him to try.

A couple of weeks ago when we told Kennedy that Luci was coming for a visit, Kennedy immediately went to the porch to watch for her. I couldn't resist posting this sweet photo of her.
